Each CAB is a seperate, independent charity. |

the CAB give information about me to a third party such as the Benefits
Agency or Inland Revenue? |

- what you tell us about yourself is treated as confidential. We make
notes about people who visit and the advice we give for our own records
only. |

| Are
advisers legally qualified? |
| No
- but all advisers have taken the national CAB training course which
can take up to 12 months to complete. |

| How
do they know so much? |
| Advisers
are trained to use our extensive national information system which
is written and kept up to date for us by a team of experts in the
law. |

| Are
advisers paid? |
| No
- most CAB advisers are volunteers. Salaried staff include caseworkers,
trainers and managers. |

| Who
funds us? |
| Like
most charities our funding comes from a variety of sources including
Rochdale Council, the Legal Services Commission, the Primary Care
Trust and local regeneration funds such as the Neighbourhood Renewal
Fund. |

| Does
the CAB hand out money? |
| No
- we do not have any money to distribute. We give advice and information. |
| |
| Who
makes sure we give a good service? |
| We
have to pass regular audits by the National Association of Citizens
Advice Bureaux and the Legal Services Commission in order to remain
open as a CAB. |
