What's YOUR idea of a CAB volunteer?

The CAB Service values its volunteers highly. Ninety per cent of CAB workers are volunteers, as advisers, admin workers or management committee members. We are committed to equal opportunities for our workers and clients, and welcome volunteers regardless of race, gender, sexuality or disabilities.

All our volunteer advisers are trained to enable them to advise clients. You do not need to have any particular qualification or experience, but the following abilities will be extremely useful:

  • being a good listener
  • open minded
  • able to work with clients to achieve results
  • can read complex information and explain it
  • can do basic maths
  • can work as a team member
  • can commit yourself to a minimum of 7 hours each week
  • support equal opportunities

You may also have some of the following skills:
  • information technology skills
  • administration or clerical skills
  • language skills relevant to local needs
  • knowledge and experience of various cultures in your area

Voluntary work for the CAB gives good experience for paid employment.
